Matting & Dematting Policies

Matted Fur and Associated Risks

Matted fur can cause numerous health issues for pets, including skin irritations, infections, and harboring parasites. Mats can also lead to pain, discomfort, and restricted air circulation. Severely matted coats may require shaving down to the skin, potentially revealing underlying skin problems.

Dematting Process and Procedures

Devoir Pet Salon strives to provide a stress-free grooming experience. However, in cases of severe matting, the humane approach may be to shave the pet’s coat down to the skin to remove all mats. Where feasible, the Salon will attempt to demat or brush out the coat, but only when it can be done without causing pain or suffering to the pet. This dematting process requires additional time, skill, and an associated fee of $1/minute.

Due to the close proximity of working near the skin, there is a risk of nicks, scrapes, or irritation during the dematting process, despite the utmost care taken by the Salon’s groomers. The Salon will use medicated shampoos to soothe any irritation that may occur.

Release of Liability

By authorizing Devoir Pet Salon to proceed with the dematting process, the Client acknowledges and accepts the associated risks, including potential injury or uncovering of underlying medical issues. The Client hereby releases the Salon from any liability related to the dematting process and any medical problems that may arise during or after the procedure.

Should the pet require veterinary care as a result of the dematting process, the Client agrees to be solely responsible for any and all veterinary fees incurred.
